A Europe of Peoples?

Far right parties are increasingly popular because European elites have failed to build a Europe for the peoples. They failed to respect the constituent power of peoples when they imposed the Lisbon Treaty even after it had been rejected (under another name) two years before through the referendums in France and in the Netherlands. They failed to respect the right to equal development of European peoples when Germany attracted all European companies on its soil thanks to the very low salaries imposed upon its own citizens. The elites also failed to respect the solidarity among European peoples when they imposed extreme austerity measures upon Southern European countries and especially Greece. Finally they also failed to respect democracy understood as the sovereignty of the people when they simply ignored the rejection of the austerity measures by the Greek people. So do not ask why far right political parties are gaining power. The explanation is to be found in the fact that elites have ignored the collective rights of European peoples.
