The September 26 issue of La Presse highlighted the fact that the House of Commons gave a standing ovation to Yaroslav Hunka, who was a member of the 14th Grenadier Division of the Waffen-SS (1st Galician Division). According to La Presse, « this division was made up of Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the side of Nazi Germany, particularly against Russian troops. The Waffen-SS was declared a ‘criminal organization’ at the Nuremberg trials. »
The « expert » constantly quoted by the SRC is Dominique Arel. He stops at nothing to try and minimize the gaffe:
« They arrived in 1944 and there were no Jews left. Everything had been done before. […] Even from a legal point of view, you can’t say they’re war criminals just because they were part of an organization that committed atrocities before or all over Europe. You have to look at what this individual and his unit did. »
This division of the SS was directly responsible for the commission of Nazi atrocities, including the massacre of Huta Pieniacka on February 28, 1944, a village in Poland that served as a shelter for Jews. 1,000 people were killed!
From one juicy detail to another!
In the Ottawa Citizen of March 8, 2017, it was reported that Chrystia Freeland’s maternal grandfather, Michael Chomiak, was a Nazi collaborator. We’ve known this for a long time, even if the main interested party claims it’s Russian disinformation (Russian disinformation has a wide back!).
I note, however, that this collaborator wrote in a pro-Nazi newspaper, Krakivski Visti, during the Nazi occupation of Poland. And what did the paper write?
« Krakivski Visti hailed the formation, approved by the Germans, of the 14th Waffen SS Halychyna division, made up of Ukrainian volunteers. »
And yet, it was precisely to this formation that Yaroslav Hunka belonged, the one who was welcomed with great pomp and ovation in the House of Commons!
