American Warmongering

I want to share some thoughts on the war now taking place in Ukraine and on the war that the US is trying to engage with China.

On March 1st 2022 during the State of the Union address, the corporate state oligarchy was finally united after having been deeply divided during the Trump years at the White House. Joe Biden was now speaking in front of a single crowd of American patriots. The war in Ukraine had just begun and they were all gathering around a single cause: defending Ukraine against the Russian enemy. Russians had invaded Ukraine engaging itself into an ‘unprovoked war ‘.

Despite the fact that the war had just begun and that people on both sides, Russians and Ukrainians were being killed, Democrats and Republicans all seemed quite ecstatic. Indeed, during the State of the Union address, US Neo-Cons paradoxically seemed to be happy to see Russia brutally attack Ukraine. Was it because it was proving once and for all and in a spectacular way how cruel and criminal Vladimir Putin was? Was it because Biden had succeeded to find a common ground between Democrats and Republicans? We could see Anthony Blinken smiling with glee as if the United States were victorious in some way. Could it be that the US relentlessly tried to provoke the war and were now achieving their goal?

After the collapse of the USSR, their intent was to become the only superpower in the world, but soon it became urgent to stop Russian economic expansion. Russians were increasing their commercial relations with Europe, Africa and Latin America. But why should these reasons become so important that the US would feel the need to provoke Russia into a war against Ukraine?

We must perhaps consider this. The US financial situation is alarming: a federal debt reaching 30 000 billion USD, a negative commercial balance reaching 1 trillion dollars / year, a debt/GDP ratio that could perhaps come close to 200% within the next 30 years, debt servicing reaching 30% of US revenues within the next 30 years and, worst of all, the inescapable de-dollarization that was already under way. If the US dollar is no longer to be the international reference currency, the inflation and high interest rates that will follow will put the entire financial situation of the US in great danger. The only solution was therefore to make find other means to purse the economic war against Russia and China. It meant weakening their economies by forcing them to militarily engage: in Ukraine for Russia and in Taiwan for China.

Here are some of US-NATO provocations that have been going on since 1991:

-The failed promise made in 1990 not to expand NATO

-The addition of 14 new countries into NATO, starting in 1997

-The NATO invasion in Serbia in 1999 and the creation of Kosovo where the US now have a military base

-The withdrawal of the ABM treaty in 2002

-The encirclement of Russia with military bases in the ex-Warsaw pact countries

-The installment of anti-ballistic systems in Poland and Romania that can be turned into offensive missile launchers in a single night with missiles that could reach Moscow in just a few minutes

-The promise made at Bucarest in 2008 to include Georgia and Ukraine into NATO

-The violent attacks by Right Sector in February 20-24, 2014, with US approval

-The US participation in the Maidan coup on February 22, 2014 (Nuland, Biden and McCain repeatedly meeting just before these events the three opposition parties)

-The choice of one of their three opposition leaders as the new Prime Minister (Nuland calls him «Yatts» in the intercepted phone call with Geoffrey Pyatt, the US ambassador in Ukraine)

-The choice of the second opposition leader as mayor of Kiev

-The choice of four members of the ultranationalist Svoboda party in the Ukrainian government, in order to please the third opposition leader (while keeping him at a distance from the government because of his radical antisemitic views)

-The choice of an American woman in charge of Ukrainian finance and economy (December 2014)

-The choice of a US ally as Governor of Odessa

-The visits of John Kerry and John Brennan in Ukraine after the coup

-The influence of Joe Biden in the removal of a justice prosecutor

-The presence of Hunter Biden in the administration council of Burisma (paid 80 000$ / month)

-The abandonment of linguistic rights for the Russian minorities in Ukraine as soon as February 23 2014

-The interruption of pension money for Donbass citizens

-Five billion of US dollars in support of Ukraine after the coup (dixit Nuland)

-The civil war initiated by the Azov Battalion that led to 14 000 deaths on both sides

-Ukrainian soldier training by US troops, including the Neo Nazi Azov Battalion

-The military equipment sent to Ukraine

-Fortification in preparation for the war

-Chemical Labs installed in Ukraine

-The Minsk agreement as a means to save time in order to prepare Ukraine for the war (as admitted by Angela Merkel and François Hollande)

-The Rand corporation 2019 Document («Extending Russia») telling US authorities how to destabilize Russia, sending letal military equipment to Ukraine, stopping Russian oil and gas sales in Europe, rolling back on Nordstream II, withdrawal from IMF treaty, etc.) -All these measures are described in the document as an escalation that would lead to a counter escalation by Russia. Still the US decided to apply all those measures.

-Withdrawal from the IMF treaty (2019)

-Letal military equipment sent to Ukraine

-Sanctions against Russia

-Europe no longer buying oil and gas from Russia

-Nordstream sabotage

-Ukraine now becoming a de facto member of NATO

-Blinken repeating in November 2021 the US intention to include Ukraine into NATO

-US rejecting Lavrov new security pact in December 2021

-Biden’s promise made December 2021 not to install nuclear missiles in Ukraine was no longer mentioned when Biden met for the last time with Putin just few weeks after

-Zelensky’s declaration expressing his wish that Ukraine becomes once again a nuclear power

-Ukrainian troops sent in the Donbass region to reactivate the civil war (according to the OSCE).

At that point, Russia realized that it would not be possible to turn Ukraine into a neutral country (with no nuclear weapons and no inclusion into NATO), unless Russia launched an attack in Ukraine. Of course, if Ukraine had not been part of Russian and Soviet empires in the last two centuries and if there had not been a deep humiliation after the collapse of the USSR, Russia would perhaps not have engaged itself into such a special military operation. Putin would probably have chosen another path. But it is clear that the US wanted Russia to engage into this war. This is what they were hoping for and what they were trying to provoke. After creating this turmoil, it then became easy to justify radical measures such as sanctions against Russian oligarchs, an embargo on the sale of Russian oil and gas in Europe, its removal from the SWIFT system and the sabotage of Nordstream.  The idea was to engage in a proxy war and use Ukrainians in order to fight and weaken Russia.

This is not a conspiracy theory. We are dealing with a proxy war pursued with the intent of weakening Russia. In 2015, Democratic Representative Adam Schiff alluded to the value of « fighting Russia in Ukraine as a way of not having to fight it in the USA ». U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin admitted that the Americans were trying with this war to weaken Russia (« weakening Russia… inflicting to Russia a bloody nose »). American aid to Ukraine, according to Senator Lindsay Graham, was a fight to be fought « to the last Ukrainian ». Oliver North described the situation as involving « their blood, our bullets ». Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta acknowledged that the United States was fighting a « proxy war » in Ukraine. Senator Mitt Romney essentially said the same thing. The head of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Republican Michael McCaul, also spilled the beans. Quoting from a Wall Street Journal editorial that reads, « We’re giving them just enough to bleed through months without a chance of victory, » McCaul admitted that this is what was going on. He then complained and said that the US should send more weapons, including Abrams tanks.

Retired General Keith Kellog, adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, said that it was the highest form of professionalism to use Ukraine in order to fight Russia because it « takes a strategic adversary off the table » without using American troops. This allowed to focus on the most important opponent, China.

Hilary Clinton compared the situation in Ukraine in 2022 with the situation in Afghanistan in 1979. At that time, the US used the Mudjahidines to fight the Russian army. This time they used the Ukrainians for the same purpose.

Invading all of Ukraine was a way for Russians to end the war rapidly. The idea was not to conquer the territory, it was to achieve a regime change or at least neutrality for Ukraine. They were partly successful because negotiations rapidly took place in Istanbul in March 2022. The war would perhaps have ended soon if it were not for US/UK interventions. Naftali Bennett said that these two countries stopped the negotiations. This reveals the true intentions of US NeoCons. It is clear that the US was ready to sacrifice more Ukrainian soldiers in order to weaken Russia.

Western citizens would perhaps be more critical of their governments if they were a little more informed. Instead, their minds have been formatted by russophobic propaganda. Of course, just as one can criticize the Zionism of Israeli policies in Palestine without being anti-Semitic, one can also criticize the autocratic character of the Russian and Chinese regimes without being Russophobic and Sinophobic, and criticize the inhumane treatment of women in Islamic states without being Islamophobic.

But the American wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Somalia and Yemen cannot be explained by a rejection of Islamist fundamentalism. The US proxy war against Russia in Ukraine cannot be explained by the rejection of the Russian autocratic regime. Similarly, the encirclement of China, the creation of new military bases in the Philippines and the presence of American ships in the China Sea cannot be explained by the rejection of the Chinese autocratic regime. The US wars in the Middle East, in Ukraine and perhaps eventually against China can only be explained by the desperate attempt of the United States to weaken these other countries and avoid the collapse of their own economic empire.

Now, to justify the wars that they are pursuing at a frantic pace, the US NeoCons are stirring up the Islamophobic, Russophobic and Sinophobic feelings of the population. The War against terror, Russiagate and now the mistrust against China served their hegemonic interests. It is a tragedy to see mainstream medias being subservient to this propaganda. Indeed, recent news reports about Huawei, TikTok, Chinese balloons, Chinese Canadian MPs, Amazon’s new Chinese rival Temu, and the so-called ‘controversial’ donation to the Trudeau Foundation all serve to create a new climate of moral and ideological distrust and suspicion that perfectly suits military strategists, for they can continue without accountability an aggressive policy against China. They can impose « sanctions », create new military bases in the Philippines (in addition to the already existing 400 military bases surrounding China) and send warships in the China Sea. These measures increase the tensions and provoke China almost on a daily basis.

Officially, the US recognizes the existence of only one China with its government located in Beijing. Like the rest of the international community, they acknowledge the fact that Beijing considers Taiwan as a province of China. They do not support Taiwan’s independence. (The 13 countries that recognize Taiwan also do not treat Taiwan as an independent country, for they see the government of Taiwan as the government of the whole of China.) Meanwhile, as the soft power version of the CIA, the National Endowment for Democracy has for many years been everywhere in the world, including Taiwan. History books have been provided to Taiwanese students for many years now, trying to convince them about the value of independence from the mainland. There are now soldiers stationed on the island and the US is even providing military equipment to Taiwan. House speaker Nancy Pelosi has paid a visit to Taiwan without asking permission to Beijing. Kevin McCarthy also met with Taiwan’s president. The NeoCons hope to see one day Taiwan declare its independence and hope that the Chinese government will react with military force. That would be a perfect occasion for the US to intervene and wage a war against China.

News reports in mainstream medias always fail to describe the imperialist role of the US. They talk a lot about the Russian Bear, but they fail to see the American Elephant in the room. Western citizens are not well informed about the Russiagate scandal, about the Twitter files, about the Nordstream sabotage, about Julian Assange’s inhumane treatment and about Hunter Biden’s laptop. They are being bombarded by so called Russian or Chinese interventions on US soil, but they are ignorant of the gigantic violent presence of their own country all over the world. The American State has been engaged into wars for most of its history. It has been involved in coup attempts, and in more than 100 military interventions since 1991. They have imposed sanctions against 40 different countries, including Cuba, Venezuela, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Russia and China. They have 800 military bases all over the world (Russians have 9 and China has 6). They spend 900 billion dollars in military equipment each year (Russia spends no more than 60 billion dollars/year).

The renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs recently said that, in the 19th century, the UK was all at once the most advanced liberal state and the most violent one in the world. Since 1950, he says that the Brits have been replaced by the US. As someone on twitter (Rodney DeCroo) just wrote: « The US is the only government on earth who has spent the 21st century killing people by the millions in wars for geostrategic dominance, who’s been strangling populations with starvation sanctions and blockades around the world… » But no one pays attention to that.

Mainstream medias like the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, the CBC, the BBC, the Guardian, Le Monde, El Pais and Der Spiegel can criticize the internal politics of their respective governments. But when it comes to the external policies defended by Western ‘democracies’ against China, Russia or Iran, a strange unanimity suddenly takes over. It begins within the US among Democrats and Republicans, and within different government agencies, such as the FBI, the CIA, the NSA and the department of homeland security. This unanimity has a ripple effect all over the Western hemisphere, governments and mainstream medias included. Dissent is seen either as ‘Russian propaganda’ or ‘disinformation’. This frightening outcome proves that if you don’t care about geopolitics, geopolitics will take care of you!
